Hey there!

Before I start filling your head with all my chat, you’re best knowing the mind behind it. My name is, in short – Fifi, a final year Actuarial Science student at the University of Kent, UK. I come from Botswana and have been in the UK for about 3.5 years now.

I don’t really know how to speak about myself; one of the motivations behind this blog. I also don’t really like sentences that start with ‘I am’ and end with something else [unless we’re affirming], simply because firstly, I think its enough to just be without an externally influenced, ever changing label, and, I think I am many things. Sometimes I am a natural hair queen, or more like a DIY queen, I can also say I’m a reader and maybe a poet. I’m into physical training: sometimes its weight training, others times it’s yoga, I’ll even do boxercise and muay thai training just for fun, or go hiking [can’t say I’ve been in a while but it’s such a good overall inner and physical strength building exercise]. Maybe that’s why my knees go so low? I’m also a ‘listen to a sermon a day’ Christian, but I can also be a serial waist whiner, or a dancer, and a rockstar when I’m really in the mood. On LinkedIn though I’m a professional. Some days I’m the extroverts of all extroverts, and other days I’m an introvert or I’m overly shy. My housemates know at home I think I’m the cake boss, emphasis on ‘I think’. My shuffle goes from JazziQ to Joyous Celebration [I usually have to make this disclaimer to my friends], from Tupac shouting ‘We Outlaws’ to Jhené or Drake, and from Panic! at the disco, to Cigarettes After Sex. It’s such a plethora beyond that, it really can’t be summarised. I also like saying I’m a humanitarian, I certainly don’t end there. So I am many things, multidimensional, multifaceted they say? But most of all, I am a wild spirit with a soft heart.

This blog will be a space where I explore all these many things and interests as well as issues and ideas around me/us in the world, mainly in poetry (unless I explore a different form of art). I take you all on this journey because I’ve always been a creative writer, but never shared it with any people aside from my immediate bubble. Over the year, I came across people who inspired creative energy in me, and I thought it time to share it with you! With my schedule, I’ll try to do this once a month, 12 letters from me to you 💋.
